What year Osborne’s started applying reference numbers is not known but they certainly do not apply to all their plaques, and what kind of logic was used in applying them is also unknown. The sequence actually bears no relation to size, shape, or date of manufacture. These design numbers were stamped only on the edge of the plaque boxes and did not appear on the plaques themselves.
